Here at Light in the Desert Church, we have a deep conviction to invest in our children by giving them God’s word and helping parent(s) have spiritual conversations. The primary discipler of any child is their parent; they have the most significant spiritual impact, so we work hard to support and partner with parent(s). Our desire is to minister to the entire family.
Sunday Gathering is an opportunity to give the family unit a shared experience to build upon throughout the week. So we use an age-old concept of question and answer, more formally said catechism.
At the beginning of the month, each parent will receive a family packet with the question and answer for the month, scripture where the answer is found, a memory verse, and helpful talking points (there is a link to each month’s packet below). Each Sunday, the children will have time studying those scriptures and looking at biblical stories to learn truth.
We currently have two classes: Nursery to Kindergarten and first to fifth grade. They meet at 9 am before our Sunday Gathering. All kids are in the Sunday Gathering at 10:15 am until the preaching begins. At that point, Nursery to Kindergarten is dismissed to return to their class.
At 9 am, Nursery to Kindergarten will have a time of play, craft, singing, and bible story. First to fifth graders will have a structured time learning a biblical truth, studying scripture, singing songs, and preparing for the sermon.
In both these classes, your children will receive sound, age-appropriate and engaging teaching that will challenge and help them grow in their faith.
All of our volunteers have received specialized training and have passed a background check, so you can be assured that your child is well cared for and safe.
