Church Family,

This past Sunday, as we continued our series in James, we looked at the wisdom that comes down from above as discussed at the end of chapter 3. It is easy for us to be given to worldly wisdom, that is a kind of so-called “wisdom” that places one’s self at the center and makes all other decisions on the basis of self interest. But true wisdom, that is God’s wisdom, is marked by things like peace, impartiality, and openness to reason. These are not popular guiding principles, nor are they easy principles to follow, but they are what God has called us to and what God has demonstrated perfectly for us in the life of Jesus.

Members’ Meeting

Our next member’s meeting will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday October 12th. If you are a member of Light in the Desert, please be sure to set aside that day on your calendar to participate in this vital piece of church life. What’s more, we encourage you to use the window of time before the meeting to go have lunch with other members of our church family.

Sermon Archive

Did you know that you can access all of our past sermons right here? We keep an ongoing archive of every sermon as a resource for you. If you’re out for a Sunday, feel free to go back and listen to the sermon from that morning which is typically available just a little later the same day. If you come across a challenging passage in your personal Bible reading and know we covered it on a Sunday at some point, this may be a great way to start finding answers to your questions (though talking to other church members is a great option too). Whatever your need may be, we just wanted to take a second to remind you that the whole catalogue is available for you through our website.

Grace be with you,

Logan Murphy
